Withering Hope || Book Tour

I’m pleased to be today’s stop on Withering Hope book tour. This tour is hosted by Xpresso Book Tours

Withering Hope

Aimee’s wedding is supposed to turn out perfect. Her dress, her fiancé and the location—the idyllic holiday ranch in Brazil—are perfect.

But all Aimee’s plans come crashing down when the private jet that’s taking her from the U.S. to the ranch—where her fiancé awaits her—defects mid-flight and the pilot is forced to perform an emergency landing in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

With no way to reach civilization, being rescued is Aimee and Tristan’s—the pilot—only hope. A slim one that slowly withers away, desperation taking its place. Because death wanders in the jungle under many forms: starvation, diseases. Beasts.
As Aimee and Tristan fight to find ways to survive, they grow closer. Together they discover that facing old, inner agonies carved by painful pasts takes just as much courage, if not even more, than facing the rainforest.

Despite her devotion to her fiancé, Aimee can’t hide her feelings for Tristan—the man for whom she’s slowly becoming everything. You can hide many things in the rainforest. But not lies. Or love.

Withering Hope is the story of a man who desperately needs forgiveness and the woman who brings him hope. It is a story in which hope births wings and blooms into a love that is as beautiful and intense as it is forbidden.

My thoughts:

Aimee has know her fiancé, Chris, since she was a little girl. They have been distended to be together since forever. On her way to her wedding, Aimee’s private plane crashes. It’s the one night that changed everything. Not only did they crash in the middle of the Amazon, it just so happens to be during rainy season. In order to survive Aimee must trust in the one other survivor, Tristan. For their survival Tristan must learn to trust again and Aimee must get out of her comfort zone.

It has been a long time since I’ve finished a book and immediately wanted to read it again. Withering Hope was that book for me. Through out the entire book, I was rooting for everything to work out for them. I wanted Aimee and Tristan to get their happy ending. Aimee and Tristan were such great characters. They were so opposite of each other that they work. She is the high power lawyer while he is the Army veteran who has PTSD. They needed each other more than they realized.

30 before 30 Part II

It’s been a hot minute since Part I of my 30 before 30 came out. It’s time that I got around to finish my list. Here’s Part II of the list.

11.) Start a pen pal relationship

With the ability to reach out to someone with the push of a button, writing letters has been ancient. Before email, facebook, twitter, instagram, texting, one of the only ways to communicate was by letters. There is something so exciting about going to the mailbox and seeing a letter in there for you. I want to establish a relationship purely off of being pen pals.

12.) Take yearly family photos

It will be great to see how the family changes every year.

13.) Start new family traditions

My family never really had traditions growing up. Even if it’s something small, I want to start establishing some sort of traditions.

14.) Travel to another country

By another country, I mean not Mexico or Canada. I’ve been there. I want to travel somewhere that I’ve never been. Top choices right now: Israel, Australia, and London.

15.) Read all the books on the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge

For those of you that are new around here, I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan. #RoryandJesseForever. Over the course of the show, Rory was seen reading 339 books. Someone compiled all the books into a reading challenge. As of right now I’ve read 13 books.

16.) Pay off all of my credit cards

My credit card spending is getting a little out of control. I hoping to have all three of them paid off before my 30th birthday.

17.) Pay off my car

By the time I turned 30, my car will paid off. Then I will officially own it!

18.) Get a job that I love

I’m in the process of job hunting. Instead of finding a job that I get stuck with, I want to find one that I truly love.

19.) Complete a 365 day photo challenge

A few of my friends have done this. You take one picture a day for 365 days. It’s a great way to document your life.

20.) Organize and go on a non-bachelorette Girl’s weekend

Bachelorette getaways are becoming the norm now a days. I want to plan a girl’s weekend where it’s not a bachelorette party.

Stay tuned for Part III

Book Tour || Acting Brave

I’m pleased to be a part of Acting Brave’s blog tour. Today’s post is sponsored by Xpresso Book Tours.

Acting Brave

She’s spent her whole life acting. But is she good enough to make him believe she doesn’t love him?
Three years ago, a terrified girl named Emma fled a world of crime and abuse in Chicago and bought a one-way ticket to New York. She reinvented herself as an actress, enrolled at the prestigious Fenbrook Academy and buried her pain beneath a vivacious new persona. Her new name was Jasmine.

Now she has to pull off the performance of her career.
Landing her dream part in a police show, she finds herself falling for her co-star, Ryan, a real-life cop. If she lets him get too close, he’ll awaken memories she doesn’t want to face and uncover secrets that could endanger them both. But how can she keep a guy at arm’s length when she has to kiss him on camera?

The last place Ryan imagined himself was on a TV show. Blaming himself for the death of his partner, he’s on a downward spiral of rage and guilt. The show is his last chance…but how can he keep it professional when his co-star is a woman he’s crazy about?

As their on-screen and off-screen relationships merge, things go from hot to blistering. But when Jasmine’s old life catches up with her, will a cop be the one person she can’t be around…or the only person who can save her?

My thoughts

Jasmine is an actress trying to hide from her past. Ryan is a cop who gets dealt a crappy hand. The two meet in an alley while Ryan is answering a call about one of Jasmine’s friends. Ever since that day, Ryan becomes crazy with lust for Jasmine. He thinks she is out of his league so he just watches her with lust. After Ryan’s partner dies, he goes on a downward swirl that pushes him into the arms of his crush. On a TV Show. This show is suppose to be Jasmine’s big break and Ryan’s way back to the police force turns south when the past catches up with them.

I loved this book. It keep me guessing through the entire book. It was so well-written. Jasmine and Ryan are two of the best characters I’ve seen in such a long time. Their connection was really felt through the book. No matter how hard Jasmine tried to keep Ryan away from her past. He found out. I think he ended up saving her just like she saved him.

Book Review || Island Escape

Island Escape (The Island #0.5)

Luxury yacht, tropical seas, babes in bikinis…dream job, right? Wrong. The passengers are rich jerks who treat the crew like garbage, when they aren’t pretending we’re their whores. The best day was when that cokehead heiress Kalina tried to fire me just for doing my job. I swore I’d never go back home to my parents and their crazy fundamentalist ranch in the desert, but nothing could be worse than this.

And then the pirates attack.

Luxury yacht, tropical seas, billionaire boyfriend…dream trip, right? Wrong. After catching my man getting “extra services” from the maid, I know I’m the laughing stock of passengers and crew. Every time I lay eyes on that quiet, handsome deckhand Adam, I can feel him judging me. I want to die, and when the pirates show up, I think I’m going to.

But Adam… he saves me. Now we’re alone together on a lifeboat in the open ocean. Adam thinks we don’t have a chance, but thanks to him, we’ve made it this far.

And then, in the distance, I spot an island…

My thoughts:

This book was very interesting. It a great start to the series. One minute you are on a yacht, living the dream and then the next you are find yourself on an deserted island. The evolution of the character was my favorite part of the book. When I first met Kalina, I wanted to knock some sense into her. She was such a spoiled princess. It made me almost not want to read the book. I was so angry with her. As the story progressed my hatred for her started to die down. She actually became a very pleasant person. She learned that there is more to life then money, s*x, drugs, and alcohol. She learned to care for someone else besides herself. Adam, on the other hand, was my favorite character from the beginning. He wasn’t going to take bull from anyone. If it wasn’t for him, they would have never survived the first night.

Overall, this book was great. I couldn’t put it down that I read it all in about two days. The writing is great. I loved every moment of the book. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

TGIF! 5 on Friday

Hello Friday.

It’s been a long time. I’m glad you have decided to show your wonderful face around these parts. You have been sorely missed.  Next time don’t take us long to come around.

Since it’s Friday, I thought I would link up with Darci, April, Natasha and Christina for my 5 thoughts this Friday.

My Kindle Fire:

I got the first Kindle Fire when it came out in 2011. I’ve taken extremely good care of it. And I think it finally has died. I left it on the charger all night and it didn’t charge at all. I think it’s time to replace it. I’m thinking of getting the new Fire HD 7 but I’m still not sure. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Super Bowl 49:

Why can’t the Super Bowl be here already? I’m In and I’m ready! I want to see my Seahawks just dominate Brady and put an end to all this hype about deflated balls. Let’s get the game start already!

*Need some sort of Blue Friday Picture*

Job Hunting:

I never realized how stressful job hunting could be. For a little more context, my current job contract ends very soon. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve put my resume out there and applied to all these places and nothing has happened. It’s been almost three years since I’ve searched for a job. And even then I got lucky with some great opportunities. Fingers crossed something comes up.

I’m obsessed with phone cases. I have tons of cases that I could change it out as often as I do my underwear. I recently came across this website that allows me to create my phone cases. Of course I had to check it out. Castetify is a great case websites that allows your creative to fly. Their cases are steady. They survive when I drop my phone. Check them out here. Right now I’m rocking this adorable penguin case while I wait for my Sounders case to arrive.

Tax Season:

Tax season is officially upon us. Since my husband is a CPA I’ve developed a love/hate relationship with this season. I love that my husband enjoys this time of year but I hate the fact that I never see him. He works about 80+ hours a week. I’ve coined myself a tax season widow until about April 15th. Oh well, guess it’s time to check up on those Netflix shows.

Happy Friday!

30 before 30 Part I

Since all post need a picture. This is what you get! Who I enjoyed the Seahawks game with!

Sorry if it seems like I haven’t been around much lately. My husband and I are dealing with a lot of personal family stuff. I hate neglecting everyone but no worries I’m back. I realized the other day that my 30th birthday is only 2.5ish years away. There is so much I want to do before then. That is how my 30 before 30 list came about. Pull up a seat, grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride through my 30 things to before I turn 30. Since 30 is a lot and I want to explain a little bit about each, I’m splitting it up into a few parts.

1.) Go on a cruise:

We have so many friends that have worked on cruise ships and love it. They have been trying since college to get us to go on a cruise. There are plans to go this May so keep your fingers crossed.

2.) See a concert in Vegas:

When I say concert, I mean the likes of Carrie Underwood, JT, Britney Spears. Ever since I turned 21, it’s been on my bucket list to see a concert in Vegas. Plus you get a vacation with the deal. Win-win

3.) Attend a championship game for either the Seahawks or the Sounders:

It’s no secret around here that I’m in love with Seattle sports. In the last couple of years both teams have been doing decent (RE-PETE) that I’m confident they will be in championship games for the next few years.

4.) Start a family:

It’s no secret that I’ve suffered a couple of miscarriages but I fully believe that we will start a family.

5.) Visit all 50 states:

So far I’ve visited 10 states. Only 40 more to go! Need to start planning some more vacations.

6.) Attend at least 5 plays a year:

My mother-in-law was so sweet to get us passes to the local theater for Hanukah. So far we have seen “And then there were none” and “Little Women”. Fun fact, my old high school English teacher is one of the actors there.

7.) Make an entire Thanksgiving meal on my own:

Thanksgiving is our holiday. Right now, it’s more a potluck style of dinner. In the next couple of years, I want to do more and more of the cooking myself.

8.) Add another bathroom:

Downstairs, there is a perfect place to add a bathroom so that we aren’t running up and down the stairs. We have talked about making it a bathroom now we just need to do it.

9.) Attend some sort of convention or conference outside of work:

I’m always wanting to learn new things. Whenever I go to some type of convention, I always learn something. I’ve heard there are some good blogging ones. Any information would be good!

10.) run a 5k:

Running has not been on my top 10 list of favorite things to do. Yet for some reason, I want to run a 5k to prove to myself that I can do. Who knows, maybe I will end up liking to run.

That’s all for now.

It started with unspoken animosity. The bitter bite of jealousy. And now its full blown hate. It was during my first football game that I first felt the first chill of hate. My thoughts:

OMG. At first I thought this book was going to be similar to Fifty Shades of Grey. In the end it was so much better. I was pleasantly surprised.

Serena gave up so much of her life to take care of her grandma. When her grandma is died and the debt keeps pulling up, Serena must find something to do. Life hands her the bone she wants. It just so happens to be in the form of Linc, her hot new boss. Serena and Linc figure out that they were brought together for a reason, to set the each other free.

I experienced all kinds of emotions through out this book. There were moments were I felt sad for Serena, moments were I was mad at Linc, or happiness whenever they were together. I’ve never experienced some much emotion throughout a book of this nature.

For anyone that wants to find another series after Fifty Shades, should definitely check out this book. It is worth reading while into the night.
