5 (on Friday) reasons the U.S. WNT will win the World Cup

Happy Friday Everyone!
This Friday has extra meaning to me. The time has finally come for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Sunday at 4pm, the US Women’s national time will be taking on Japan to bring home the gold. I have been waiting for this moment for four yeatrs.
For this week’s Five on Friday, here are my five reasons that the US Women will be hoisting that trophy.
*All the pictures will show you how much this means to me*

When we went to Vancouver to watch the World Cup live!

We have a score to settle..
The last time that the US Women held the trophy was 16 years ago. Four years ago, we were so close that we taste the victory. In the wildness of soccer, one moment changed the course, and we ended up leaving with our Silver medals. It’s time for US to be the best.

My homemade shirt!

Our fan base is incredible.
Women’s soccer is becoming wildly popular. Since the world cup is in Canada this year, it’s almost a home field advantage for the US. Those 23 women out on the field are playing for our country.  We are selling out stadiums left and right. This fan base deserves the gold.

Stella has World Cup spirit.

Defense wins Championships.
And our defense is into to win it. They have gone 500+ minutes without giving up a goal. That is impressive. Our defense is solid.

We have Hope…
Hope Solo that is. Our keeper has been fantastic. Regardless of all  her off field drama, when the time comes, she pushes it aside and performs. She has kept us in this tournament. I might be biased a little though, cause she is a Washington Native.

Because I want them to!
At the end of the day, if you want something so bad, it ends up happening. I believe that we will win. That’s good enough reason for me.

This Sunday, if you are looking for something exciting to watch, turn on Fox and watch the Women’s World Cup final. You know I will be.

Life Lately- 5 On Friday

Happy Friday Ya’ll!

Today I am linking up with April, Christina, Darci, and Natasha for their 5 on Friday!

Since it’s been a long while since I’ve updated you on my life! I figured today’s post would be perfect.

My work contract officially ends today. After a year and a half at the same company, I am officially unemployed. As of right now, my life is going to consist of lots of puppy cuddles and book reading. Be on the look out for more personal posts since I will have the time!

Stella and I figured we needed the practice!

Sounders Season is officially here! I have been waiting since December for this time of the year. This is the first year we are a full season ticket holder. My soccer loving heart can’t handle it! And yes, I am still mad we lost last weekend. I don’t want to talk about it.

My weekend attire!

If you need to find me, I will be here most weekends

Concerts! This Spring/Summer/Fall is shaping up to be a great time for concerts! There are some good ones on my plate. Going to Watershed, Luke Bryan, Shania with a few others in between. My credit card may hate me but at least my heart is full of country music!

Stella really felt like she needed to make an appearance again. This time she stole my pillow and blanket so that I would take her picture. Most of my “free-time (after work and soccer practices)” have been spent with this cutie. In case you didn’t know, I am a tax-season widow. My husband is a CPA and is working 75+ hours until April 15th. So it’s Stella and I holding down the home front.

In the words of Olivia Pope, “It’s handled”

I was walking to the store the other day when I came across this sign. Sometimes we need to celebrate the little victories in life!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

TGIF! 5 on Friday

Hello Friday.

It’s been a long time. I’m glad you have decided to show your wonderful face around these parts. You have been sorely missed.  Next time don’t take us long to come around.

Since it’s Friday, I thought I would link up with Darci, April, Natasha and Christina for my 5 thoughts this Friday.

My Kindle Fire:

I got the first Kindle Fire when it came out in 2011. I’ve taken extremely good care of it. And I think it finally has died. I left it on the charger all night and it didn’t charge at all. I think it’s time to replace it. I’m thinking of getting the new Fire HD 7 but I’m still not sure. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Super Bowl 49:

Why can’t the Super Bowl be here already? I’m In and I’m ready! I want to see my Seahawks just dominate Brady and put an end to all this hype about deflated balls. Let’s get the game start already!

*Need some sort of Blue Friday Picture*

Job Hunting:

I never realized how stressful job hunting could be. For a little more context, my current job contract ends very soon. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve put my resume out there and applied to all these places and nothing has happened. It’s been almost three years since I’ve searched for a job. And even then I got lucky with some great opportunities. Fingers crossed something comes up.

I’m obsessed with phone cases. I have tons of cases that I could change it out as often as I do my underwear. I recently came across this website that allows me to create my phone cases. Of course I had to check it out. Castetify is a great case websites that allows your creative to fly. Their cases are steady. They survive when I drop my phone. Check them out here. Right now I’m rocking this adorable penguin case while I wait for my Sounders case to arrive.

Tax Season:

Tax season is officially upon us. Since my husband is a CPA I’ve developed a love/hate relationship with this season. I love that my husband enjoys this time of year but I hate the fact that I never see him. He works about 80+ hours a week. I’ve coined myself a tax season widow until about April 15th. Oh well, guess it’s time to check up on those Netflix shows.

Happy Friday!

Five on Friday: Favorite Christmas Movies

Happy One Week to Christmas!

One of my favorite things about the holidays is all the movies on television. Hallmark Channel for the win! These are some of my favorite Christmas movies of all time.

Babes in Toyland (1986)

Drew Barrymore is so adorable in the movie. I remember watching this all the time with my family when I was younger. It’s one of those remakes that were made-for-tv.

Christmas with the Kranks (2004)

Tim Allen is the unofficial comedian of Christmas Movies. He has so many good ones, including this one. Empty nest syndrome sets in for the Kranks. Instead of going all out for the holidays like normal, they decided that they wanted to go somewhere else. To me, I feel like this movie is a modern day Christmas Carole. Definitely one to watch with your family.

The Santa Claus (1994)

The Santa Clause.jpg

What is there not to love about this movie? Every time I watch I still believe that Santa is real and right in my backyard. Maybe it’s the number that is never home this time of the year. Plus Charlie is so adorable in this movie.

Home Alone (1990)

Home alone.jpg

I just realized that this movie is as old as my sister. Crazy. I always envied Kevin cause he got to be home alone. But when all the crazy stuff started happening. I was over that envy. The original movie is way better then the other two.

Christmas Vacation (1989)

The all-time best Christmas movie. Hands down. Every year my dad tries to channel Clark Giswald with his holiday lights. And every year he fails. This movie gave people false hope that their Christmas lights would turn out like his.

What movies do you enjoy?

All I want for the holidays.. Five on Friday edition

A few days ago my mom and I were chatting about holiday presents for the family. Before we got off the phone, the dreaded question was asked. “What do you want for the holidays?” Even though I knew this question was coming, I still wasn’t prepared for it. I told my mom I loved her and would get back to her with my list.  It’s been about a week since she originally asked and I still haven’t sent her my list. I figured I can’t wait any longer so I finally sent it to her. For today’s edition of Five on Friday, here are five gifts I would love to get this holiday season.

bareMinerals Ready Foundation:

I brought this foundation a couple of months ago on a whim. It’s a powder foundation, which is something I didn’t think I would like. After using it every day, I’m in love. I never want to go back to liquid foundation. I’m the glad the holidays are here because I’m almost out.

bareMinerals - READY® Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20

Kindle Fire HD7:

This is a far-fetched wish. I have the original Kindle Fire and it’s on the downward swirl. The battery life is horrible. It dies about half way through the day. And it keeps getting hotter and hotter whenever I use it. Since I tend to use my kindle for more of an e-reader (books and magazines though) I don’t really need the newest version. This one is just fine.

Cute Tops for work:

I tend to dress more on the professional side for work. New tops are always something that are on my lists. Something similar to below would be great.

Roll-sleeve tee with bow

Rose Gold Watch:

My watch broke recently. I’m so sad. That means I’m on the hunt for a new one. I’m leaning towards rose gold because it matches my jewelry better.

Skin Rescue Blemish Patrol Pads from First Aid Beauty:

I brought this a while ago from Sephora and they are heavenly. They make my skin feel better.

I really hate making list but when my mom asked for one, I listened. I’ll be happy and grateful with anything.

What are a few things you are hoping for this holiday season?

Favorite Fall TV Shows

Linking up AprilChristina, Darci, and Natasha

This week has felt like the week that would never end. For explain I woke up on Tuesday and thought it was Saturday. I don’t know what it is but this time of the year the weeks drag on. Oh well, it’s almost Thanksgiving so I can’t complain.

Moving on to today’s post, which is going to be short but sweet. I’m not a huge TV watcher but when I have the time to actually watch TV, these are the five TV shows that take up my time.

How To Get Away With Murder on ABC

OMG. This show hits the money. My favorite type of shows are the crime and detective type of shows. I want a show that will leave me guessing throughout the entire episode. My husband and I turn it into a little game to see who will figure out the murder first. This show leaves me stun every time. There are so many twists and turns that my head can’t keep up and I can’t figure it out. Bonus: Paris Geller makes her tv debut again!

Scandal on ABC

Politics are secret passion of mine. Scandal allows me to feed the inner beast without having to move to Washington DC. The love triangle is so weird but makes me believe that there is someone special for everyone.

Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire on NBC

Hot firefighters doing what hot fireman do best. Melting our hearts.

Chicago P.D.

Chicago P.D. on NBC

The Chicago Police department may not have the most conventicle ways to find the bad guy but they get the results. I’ve learned that Justice will come at whatever cost. Plus said hot firefighters show up every once in a while.

Madam Secretary (2014) Poster

Madam Secretary on CBS

This show is the most realistic political show out there. Instead of focusing on the relationships of the characters, it focus on how to fix this country. Madam Secretary doesn’t take crap from anyone and she does what she wants.

What other shows should I be checking out?

5 on Friday

I’m linking up with a. liz adventures.

Friday is here. Did you ever think this day would get here? Me either!

This weekend, I will get my house clean and organized. Starting with the closet and ending with the fridge to be Thanksgiving ready.

Two concerts in one week, yes please! Tuesday night, we went to Selena Gomez and tonight Michael Buble. It’s going to be a great way to get my weekend started.

Black Friday is coming. Personally, I feel that society is more excited for Black Friday than Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time to get together with family, eat great food, and watch football. It shouldn’t be rushed so you can spend less time together and more time at the mall. Walmart and a couple of other stores are opening their doors at 6PM on THURSDAY. There is so much wrong with that. Their employees are giving up time with their family in order to cater to other people’s needs and complaints. I worked at Target when I was in college so I feel their pain during this day. When did society start caring more about people spending money on things than actual togetherness with family?  I don’t know about you but I’m not ending my thanksgiving early to go to Walmart to get the hottest deals.

To better ourselves financially, my husband and I are cutting back on our spending. We know we couldn’t do a no-spend month right off the bat instead we are trying to limit our spending for eating out and non important things. We took a look at our credit card statements and realize a majority of our money is spent on eating out. We’re challenging ourselves to spend only $20 a week on eating out. I’m not saying we are in a bad spot but it’s nice to have the extra money.

I really don’t have anything else so I will leave you with a joke.

What do potatoes hate the most?

Have a great Friday and weekend!

5 on Friday

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It seems like yesterday we were just start 2013 and now it’s almost over. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. You don’t have to worry about buying gifts for anyone, it’s acceptable (almost required) to watch football all day, and you get to spend time with Family. This year will be the second year my husband and I will be hosting. However, this will be our first big party in our new house. I’m stressing out trying to get everything ready. We still need to unpack some boxes and decorate the house for the holidays. Any advice on how to make this easier will be greatly accepted.

I really need to get moving on my fall clothing un-haul. Every three months or so, I clear my closet of unwanted clothes or items that are hardly used. It’s amazing how much stuff I get rid of. For the last couple of months I’ve being trying something new. I hang all my clothes with the hangers facing one direction and when I wear something I turn the hanger the other way around. This way when I actually get around to cleaning out my closet, it should be easier to tell what I wear vs. what I don’t. It takes the guesses out of it.

I need a vacation. More accurate, I can’t wait for my vacation. My best friend and I are going to Vegas in December for a girls weekend. I keep counting down the days until we are there. I’m nervous a little too because this will be one of my first times traveling by myself. She lives in Oregon and going a day before me. Hopefully, I make it out alive.

I started this new book called “Fangirl” by Rainbow Rowell. Oh my gosh. It is so good. I couldn’t put it down last night. When I am done I will write a review for you.

It’s been a week already since I’ve started this blog. It’s crazy how much is happened in a week. I’m looking forward to many more weeks and fresh ideas.

Have a great weekend my loves!
